In a concerted effort to combat child trafficking and begging mafias, Ahmedabad crime branch launched a special drive a month after the World Day Against Child Labour on June 12. The initiative, supported by the National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), aims to rescue exploited children and dismantle trafficking networks.
Police sources said begging mafias operating within the city kidnap children from remote areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and force them to beg on the city's streets.
