<p>A bench of the Gujarat HC has ordered the passport authority to decide on the passport application of Congress MLA Vimal Chudasama within four weeks. The Somnath MLA had moved the HC after the passport authority declined to issue him a passport as he had been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a magisterial court last year. The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Snehal Shukla had sentenced Chudasama and three others to six months of simple imprisonment in a 2010 case of rioting and assault in Junagadh district. As a result, the passport authority had demanded a court order before issuing the passport. As per the notification of the Ministry of External Affairs, Chudasama can get a passport for five years.</p>
