Doctors, health centres missing in rural Guj: Cong

GoP accuses state govt of neglecting rural areas, points to severe shortage of trained medical professionals and infrastructure

The Gujarat Congress on Monday lashed out at the state government for allegedly failing to ensure adequate trained medical staff and infrastructure in rural areas, even as cases of acute encephalitis syndrome see a spike. The Congress members said that the state may have been promoted as a medical tourism hub but 2,828 sub-centres, 171 public health centres and 27 community health centres are yet to be constructed in the rural areas.
