After reporting 15 suspected deaths due to Chandipura virus across 13 districts until Wednesday, five deaths were reported from Rajkot on Thursday though there was no official confirmation that deaths took place due to the deadly virus. Two patients were admitted in Jamnagar and three in Morbi, all suspected to be down with Chandipura virus.
Rajkot Civil Hospital RMO Dr Dusra told the local media that children of migrant workers working in Morbi and Jetpur were admitted for treatment due to suspected symptoms of Chandipura virus. Their samples were sent to a laboratory in Pune but all five died before the reports came back.
