A 5-year-old girl, kidnapped from near the Mumatpura underbridge in Sarkhej on Monday afternoon, was rescued by the police within hours.The incident occurred near the Maruti Suzuki Nexa Service Centre at around 1:15 pm on Monday. A man was walking home with his 5-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. The two children were walking behind him. At that time, an unidentified person in a loading tempo kidnapped the girl. The kidnapper later dropped her near the Mumatpura crossroads and fled the scene. The vehicle number and other details of the tempo were not known.The girl's father lodged an FIR at Sarkhej police station. The police reviewed CCTV footage from over 100 locations across the city and identified the accused as Rashik Babu Thakor, 32, from Vadaj.
