ECMO Saves Woman from Fatal Drug Overdose

A 43-year-old woman was recently discharged from Zydus Hospital after surviving a severe case of poisoning. She was rushed to the hospital after ingesting large quantities of blood pressure-controlling medications (Amlodipine and Atenolol) that triggered a catastrophic decline in her heart rate and blood pressure. Being a cardiac collapse, she was rushed to a nearby cardiac hospital; however, in view of her critical condition, she was eventually brought to Zydus.
