Man prevents 1,300 dogs from dying of starvation

Hussain Umar, 39, spends Rs 1,500 every alternate day to feed 1,300 street dogs, who face starvation when fishing stops for 3 months

Nine years ago, Hussain Umar Siya, 39, began to hear tales of villagers getting bit by street dogs at the Jakhau port in Kutch. Surprised, Hussain went to investigate and realised that most of the biting incidents happened after the fishing season ended when fishermen left the port. Hussain realised that as the fishermen packed their bags, the dogs were left hungry leading to their aggressive behaviour.
