Gujarat Engineering Research Institute report confirms extent of structural weakness

Mount Carmel School faces renewed scrutiny as a Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI) report reveals the building is 89.47% structurally unsound.

This follows earlier concerns raised by the school administration, prompting them to suggest parents explore alternative options. However, the District Education Officer had mandated the continuation of classes based on a Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department assessment, which indicated no immediate threat.

School asked to be ready to relocate

The GERI report, analysing 152 beams on the ground, first, and second floors of the new building, categorized 136 points as doubtful, with only 13 deemed satisfactory.
