NIRF 2024: Only three from Gujarat in Top 10

The Ministry of Education on Monday released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 for 16 different categories.

In Gujarat, only three educational institutes have made it into the list of top 10 institutes in India across different categories. This includes the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), which retained the number one position in the Management category for the fifth consecutive year, beating its archrival, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Apart from IIMA, CEPT University is ranked 6th in the Architecture and Planning category, and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is at 8th rank in the Law Category.

Manish Doshi, Gujarat Congress spokesperson said that it is a matter of concern that only three educational institutes from Gujarat are in the Top 10. "The state government cannot claim a strong stake in the education scene, as IIMA is central government-funded and an autonomous institute. Among others in the Top 100, the majority of the institutes have slipped in rank, and only a few have improved. The state must make sincere efforts to improve the quality of education, research and fill the teaching and non-teaching staff vacancies, rather than focusing on marketing insignificant initiatives,"
