The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) launched the 'Ahmedabad Metro (Official)' Mobile Ticketing Application on Wednesday, aimed at simplifying the ticket booking process for commuters. The app allows users to purchase tickets conveniently through Debit/Credit cards and UPI, offering a more efficient and paperless way to travel on the metro.A fortnight back, Mirror reports had confirmed the launch of a dedicated mobile app for Ahmedabad Metro to make metro rides more convenient and reduce the use of paper. The application 'Ahmedabad Metro (Official)' can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by Android users. The app will be made available on the iOS platform from December 23 onwards.Previously, commuters faced challenges with the new QR code paper slips introduced in Phase-2 metro operations that replaced the older plastic tokens. Passengers often encountered delays during the exit process due to difficulties in scanning the QR codes, which led to long queues at exit gates. Moreover, the disposable paper slips were frequently discarded carelessly
