Nayana Soparkar's exhibition 'Overloaded', showing men on scooters with their wares, is a metaphor of the baggage we carry

Riding on emotions

The tiny men on scooters carry everything from mattresses, shirts and trinkets to utensils, tiles and hay. We all see them on streets, ferrying their wares during the day and then perhaps taking their families out in the evenings, symbolising the "loading and unloading process" that men juggle work and family with.

The beauty of art is not in what it portrays. It is in the parallel world it creates where you can walk in and weave your stories, something Nayana Soparkar achieves with her collection, Overloaded. Who isn't familiar with this word in present times? Be it things to do or work to complete, everyone seems to be overloaded with more than their plate can accommodate. In the process, there is juggling, switching, overstretching and before one realises, it's unwinding one seeks.
