Residents of Usmanpura area woke up on Monday morning to the site of the house in a huge pit after the road near it sank. The road was constructed in July 2024 and due to the rains had been sinking slowly.Kiran Hirvania, a resident who was affected by the cave-in on Monday said he had made several complaints about the road's condition but to no avail. Hirvania lived in the house with his two kids and wife. When the road suddenly sank on Monday around 11:00 am, it not only took his Kachcha house but also slightly injured his daughter, who is an SSC student. "I had informed the authorities multiple times before Diwali that the road was sinking. However, they did not take any action," said Hirvania."After the incident, the fire brigade came to rescue us around 1:00 pm. We have lost everything and are still waiting for help from the authorities." He continued, "We are daily wagers. We have nowhere to go and no money to shift to another place."Repair works will start from Monday night, said Rushi Pandya, Additional City Engineer
