SG Highway, SP Ring Rd battered by heavy rains

Tragad underpass turns into swimming pool; potholes develop on main road linking city with Gandhinagar

Incessant rains turned Ahmedabad into a watery maze on Tuesday, plunging the city into severe waterlogging and bringing life to a standstill in several areas. The flooding ravaged Vaishnodevi Circle Junction and parts of SG Highway, forcing the closure of the newly built Vaishnodevi Underpass.

The overbridge at Vaishnodevi Circle, a vital part of SG Highway, saw sections washed away by the deluge. AMC authorities rushed to the scene to conduct repair works, attempting to ease traffic congestion.

The U-turn near Vaishnodevi Circle was flooded, with parts of the road disappearing under the water and halting vehicular movement.

Dug-up roads plagued other parts of SG Highway, including the Sola overbridge and the flyover near Gujarat High Court.
