Begum loses her battle to keep UK citizenship

TEENAGE terror bride Shamima Begum yesterday lost her bid to keep her British citizenship after MI5 argued that she continues to pose a severe threat to UK security.

The Islamic State runaway failed at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission to overturn the decision made by the Government on national security grounds.

Begum, 23, fled to Syria at the age of 15 to join IS, but resurfaced as a refugee in 2019 only to have her citizenship revoked by then-home secretary Sajid Javid.

She is stateless and stranded in the Al-Roj camp in Syria which she had branded "worse than prison".

Last night her lawyers vowed to appeal the decision. It comes as counter-terrorism police warn of a fresh rise in UK extremists set to head to Syria to join jihadist groups.
