EDDIE HOWE won the battle of the Brits after his Newcastle side suddenly awoke from their slumbers.
Fellow Englishman Gary O'Neil, still to come out on top against rival manager Howe in six attempts, could barely believe his eyes after a physical and dynamic Wolves midfield of Andre, Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes dominated until they were hit by a sting in the tail.
For 75 minutes it had not been a good look for Howe, with sporting director Paul Mitchell sitting in the front row of the main stand after some friction behind the scenes between the pair.
Wolves deservedly through a brilliantly crafted goal finished off by Lemina and had steamrollered the Toon in the midfield engine room.
But the returning Fabian Schar led the recovery with a thunderbolt 25-yarder, which took a big deflection off the unlucky Craig Dawson, after a short pass by Bruno Guimaraes with 15 minutes to go.
