Court hears ex-nurse Lucy Letby deny ever trying to hurt any baby in her care

The 34-year-old denies attempting to murder Baby K at the Countess of Chester Hospital in February 2016 by deliberately displacing a breathing tube.

Manchester Crown Court has heard that she was convicted last year of killing seven newborns and attempting to murder another six.

In this case, it is claimed consultant paediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram walked into the neo-natal unit's intensive care nursery room less than two hours after Baby K's birth and found Letby standing by an incubator "doing nothing" as the tiny girl's blood oxgyen levels fell. Monitor alarms had not sounded.
