Wanting to lead from the front, Farage has put aside his doubts about the short period of campaigning left, and is taking the battle to the Conservatives on their most sensitive subject - trust.
The 2019 election got so many electors enthused about a real change of direction in British politics that many voted for the first time in years and abandoned old tribal loyalties.
It was a triumph for Boris Johnson and a breakthrough in uniting the country with middle-class Tories joined by the Red Wall working class.
It generated an enormous majority, not seen since the days of Margaret Thatcher, and promised a new era of bluecollar Conservatism.
We now know this was squandered by an arrogant One Nation wing of the Tory party that preferred to dump Johnson and face electoral oblivion.
Of course, Johnson was not perfect but he had charisma and an optimistic faith in Great Britain something only Farage among the current crop of politicians can match.
Batting for Britain is what Nigel does best in his own inimitable way.
