In one of the worst atrocities of the conflict, the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in the capital the largest facility in the country - was all but destroyed, killing at least five. Haunting pictures showing bloodied and terrified sick children being pulled from the rubble.
Among the dead at the hospital was Svitlana Lukyanchik, 30, a paediatric kidney doctor. She was an orphan from Lviv who became a leader in her field.
