'I knew when I had the call that she was going to die'

THE grieving mother of a British solicitor poisoned by methanol in Laos has told of her harrowing 16-hour journey to be by her dying daughter's side.

Sue White flew out after receiving a call to say 28-year-old Simone was in a critical condition after downing contaminated drinks.

She said she knew as soon as she got the call that her daughter would not survive and within days of arriving at her hospital bedside she was switching off her life support.

Simone fell ill after drinking contaminated vodka with friends.

She was one of six foreign tourists who died of methanol poisoning after staying at Nana Backpackers Hostel in Vang Vieng.
