Olympic hero's one-year ban for whipping horse

DISGRACED Olympic dressage champ Charlotte Dujardin has been banned from all competition for a year after a probe into the horse-whipping scandal that saw her pull out of Paris 2024.

The punishment has been backdated to July, when she was provisionally suspended for six months by equestrian's international governing body the FEI for "engaging in conduct contrary to the principles of horse welfare".

A video had emerged of the threetime Olympic gold medallist "excessively whipping a horse" during a coaching session four years ago.

The FEI has also fined Dujardin £8,886.

British Equestrian and British Dressage have reciprocated the ban, meaning she is prevented from competing in national or training events until next July.

She has accepted the sanctions and cannot appeal.
