Police review handling of Rayner home sale claims after Tory MP complains

Tory deputy chairman James Daly accused Greater Manchester Police of failing to probe properly allegations the deputy Labour leader gave false information on previous living arrangements.

He complained that the force did not appear to contact witnesses or look at relevant documents after it found no evidence any offence had been committed.

Last night a spokesman for the force said: "We have received a complaint regarding our decision not to investigate an allegation and are in the process of reassessing this decision.
