Choudary, from Ilford, east London, "filled the void" at ALM left by founder Omar Bakri Muhammad, Woolwich Crown Court heard.
The preacher, who in 2016 was convicted of supporting Islamic State and released in 2018, said during his ITS lectures he viewed being called an extremist or fanatic as a "medallion".

Choudary was arrested in east London last July while "follower and dedicated supporter" Khaled Hussein, 29, from Edmonton in Canada, was detained at Heathrow Airport, having arrived on a flight the same day.
