President Biden's son faces 25 years' jail for lying to buy handgun

JOE Biden's son became the first child of a sitting US President to be convicted of a crime yesterday, after he lied about his crack cocaine addiction to buy a gun.

Hunter Biden, 54, could face up to 25 years behind bars after a jury took three hours to return their verdicts.

He showed no emotion as he was found guilty in Wilmington, Delaware, of making false statements and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of, or addict to, a controlled substance. President Biden, 81, has previously said he will not pardon his son.

After the verdicts were announced, he said he would accept the outcome of the case and "will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal".

He added: "Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support.

Nothing will ever change that." In a statement, Hunter said: "I am more grateful for the love and support I experienced this last week from [wife] Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome.
