Racing commentator's dying daughter 'called 999 to say she had been shot with crossbow'

THE daughter of BBC racing commentator John Hunt texted a pal for help before she was shot by a crossbow-wielding attacker and then dialled 999, an inquest yesterday heard.

Dying Hannah Hunt, 28, managed to use her mobile phone to alert police to the deadly assault, telling them she had been hit along with her mother and younger sister.

Armed police raced to the £800,000 property in Bushey, Hertfordshire, where they found Hannah collapsed, but still breathing, in the doorway with a crossbow bolt stuck in her chest, a coroner's court heard.

Her mother Carol Hunt, 61, and younger sister Louise, 25, were then found fatally injured in an adjacent room following the horror attack on the evening of July 9.

Hertfordshire Coroner's Court was told Mrs Hunt had been brutally stabbed to death in her chest and stomach while Louise had been fatally shot at close range by a crossbow bolt to the chest.

They were rushed to hospital but were dead on arrival.
