Daniel Kretinsky has pledged to maintain the current Universal Service Obligation if the Government approves his EP Group's takeover.
The obligation governs the way Royal Mail operates. When asked if he would walk away from a universal service, the Czech businesssman said: "As long as I'm alive, I completely exclude this."
His commitment to a six-day operation could make it easier for the new Government to wave through the deal.
