Paul Spiers, 63, has been working in Beckenham, 'south London, since 2017 and is much loved by residents Who know him as a massive Elvis fan.
Last week he mentioned to estate agent Lisa Knight that it was his birthday and he was saving for a holiday to Portugal.
So Lisa, who struck up a friendship with Paul through their shared love of the rock 'n' roller, started a fundraising campaign to pay for the trip.
She called him "an integral part of our Beckenham village, adored by all online and watched in astonishment as the donations topped £3,000.
