SHOT put record holder and two-time World's Strongest Man Geoff Capes has died aged 75.

The three-time Olympian became one of the most famous faces in Britain during the 1970s and 1980s appearing on TV and in pantos alongside stars such as Linda Lusardi.

Standing at more than 6ft 5in and weighing nearly 27 stone in his prime, Capes was a colossus amongst strength athletes. He maintains the British shot put record with a distance of 21.68m set in 1980.
