Talented footballer Dale AmaduAbdullah, 14, was shot by Met Police in Edmonton, North London, in 2020.

He suffered a fractured skull and sustained permanent damage to the sight in his left eye.

The officer responsible later claimed he feared Dale had a knife.

But following a trial at the High Court, Mr Justice Ritchie ruled that use of the Taser was "unlawful" and ordered that Dale be paid £131,984 in compensation.

Finding that there was no sufficient reason to suspect he had a knife, the judge said the first mention of the police seeing anything like a blade came 23 minutes after Dale was shot.
