Turbulence horror as air crew flung into roof

Flight attendants and passengers were flung into the ceiling and some even had their clothes ripped as the Qatar Airways jet suddenly plummeted hundreds of feet on its way from Doha to Dublin.

Conor Buckley, who was returning home from a holiday in Thailand, said: "We felt the plane dip for about five seconds and next to us we saw the flight attendant just go up in the air and come straight back down." Fellow passenger Paul Mocc told how people had hit the roof during the chaos and that refreshments had ended up scattered all over the cabin.

But he commended the crew for continuing to work despite their injuries as the plane flew on to Dublin.
