War hero Ray dies at age 105

Ray saw action from Dunkirk to Arnhem after he was called up in September 1939.

His first job was delivering fuel to the Belgium front line. Then in May 1940 Ray, a driver in The Royal Army Service Corps, defended Dunkirk, allowing thousands of troops to escape to England.

Afterwards he drove to Lille, caught a train to Cherbourg and hitched a lift in a Dutch fishing boat.
