Experts yesterday hailed the Food and Drug Administration's approval of donanemab as "an important milestone in the global effort to tackle dementia".
It follows US approval of the drug lecanemab, which can also be used to treat early stages of the cruel disease.
Teresa Buracchio, director of the Office of Neuroscience in the FDA's Center for Drug Evauation and Research, said trial data had shown "convincingly" that donanemab cut the rate of decline in people with mild Alzheimer's symptoms.
