100-year-old baby found under floor

Police probe newborn's suspicious death

A BABY discovered under floorboards during a renovation died more than 100 years ago in suspicious circumstances.

The skeleton of the newborn had been wrapped in newspaper and had twine around its neck.

Contractors made the disturbing discovery after lifting up floorboards in flats over a pizza shop.

Police investigating last week’s find have been trying to put names to previous residents from as far back as 1900.

A fragment of the newspaper dated it to 1910.

Forensic examination has established that the baby was full term at 40 weeks but the tot’s gender is unknown.
