OFFICERS have arrested 24 people in the UK as part of a takedown of a criminal online marketplace selling personal information of about two million victims.

The global sting, led by the FBI and Dutch police, took Genesis Market offline on Tuesday night.

Online banking details as well as Facebook, Amazon, PayPal and Netflix account information were on sale along with "digital fingerprints" containing data from the victims' devices.

It enabled criminals to overcome online security checks to commit crimes such as fraud.
