Groundworkers Daniel Graham, 38, and Adam Carruthers, 31, were charged with criminal damage to the famous tree and Hadrian's Wall.

Newcastle magistrates heard that the prosecution had used an index known as CAVAT, Capital Asset Value for&nbsp;Amenity Trees, to value the sycamore.&nbsp;Graham, of Grinsdale, near Carlisle, denied the charges while Carruthers, of Wigton, Cumbria, did not enter pleas.
