THE ex-head of Britain's counterterror police wondered if the novichok attack which killed mum Dawn Sturgess was an "act of war".

Neil Basu, giving evidence to the inquiry into her death, led the 2018 probe into the poisonings in Salisbury, which former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia survived.

A perfume bottle containing the nerve agent was found months later in Amesbury, Wiltshire.
