THE Tories' 14 years in charge ended in chaos - and ridicule yesterday after voters kicked out many of the Party's high-profile names and civil war broke out.
Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg could only squirm next to Barmy Brunch from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party as he lost his seat to become one of the major victims.
Former Prime Minister Liz Truss, Commons leader Penny Mordaunt and Defence Secretary Grant Shapps also got the boot.
Those Tories lucky enough to keep their seat kick-started the race to replace Rishi Sunak as leader before the failed PM even had chance to quit.
A grubby blame game also erupted among the remaining MPs.
With a dozen Cabinet members losing their seats, a deflated Mr Sunak said he was sorry for letting the public down in his final speech outside No10.
He confirmed he would step down once a replacement can be found meaning he will have to face Prime Minister Keir Starmer from the opposition benches until that happens.
Mr Sunak said: "I am sorry, I have given this job my all but you've sent a clear signal that the Government of the United Kingdom must change.
"I have heard your anger, your disappointment and i take responsibility for this loss."
But former Home Secretary Suella Braverman had already fired the starter pistol on a leadership race at her count in Fareham, Hants, as the scale of the Tories' defeat became clear.
