'Arms sales ban if Israel breaks law'

BRITAIN will halt arms sales to Israel if it is deemed to be acting illegally, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden hinted yesterday.

Ministers are under growing pressure to share legal assessments of military actions in Gaza amid claims Whitehall lawyers believe regulations are being broken.

Labour yesterday said there was extensive evidence the threshold for suspending arms had been crossed.

Foreign Secretary David Cameron warned the UK's support for Israel was not unconditional.
