DALEY WANTS TO GIVE CHINA DIVING CRISIS

TOM DALEY hopes to fly the flag again for Team GB - by scuppering China's latest bid for a clean sweep of Olympic diving gold medals.

Daley (below), chosen with rower Helen Glover as British flag-bearers at tonight's Paris 2024 opening ceremony along the Seine, ended a 13-year wait for glory when he won the men's synchronised 10-metre platform competition with Matty Lee.

China mopped up the remaining seven golds in Tokyo, matching their near-monopoly at Rio in 2016, where Chris Mears and Jack Laugher won the three-metre synchronised springboard.

Daley defends his title on Monday, admitting China will be strong favourites, but he insisted: "The synchro events are straight finals and it comes down to six dives.
