Everton 3 Doncaster 0
IT MAY only have come against League Two opponents but Everton are at last off the mark this season.
For large parts of the first half it was not pretty but, after two Premier League defeats to start the campaign, the Toffees got their opening win as they earned a Carabao Cup third-round spot by beating Doncaster Rovers.
Dwight McNeil's toe helped direct summer signing Tim Iroegbunam's low strike into the net before a superb run from another new recruit in Iliman Ndiaye was matched by his fine finish.
A much-improved second-half from the hosts was enough to see off the fourth-tier side, with Beto (below) getting the third late on.
Blues manager Sean Dyche will take the slight reprieve even if this was not a totally convincing performance.
