DONOR ROW 1ST MINISTER QUITS

VAUGHAN Gething has quit as the First Minister of Wales after just 118 days as four of his ministers launched a coup yesterday.

The 50-year-old made history by becoming the first Black leader of a European nation when he was elected by Welsh Labour in March.

But his short stint in charge has been marred by controversy over leaked Covid texts and a £200,000 donation.

Announcing his resignation, Mr Gething said he had hoped for "a period of reflection, rebuilding and renewal" over the summer but added: "I recognise now that this is not possible."
