Ex-soldier admits escaping jail strapped under a lorrý

FORMER soldier Daniel Khalife has admitted fleeing prison by strapping himself under a lorry.

The 23-year-old had originally denied the charge but changed his plea in court yesterday.

Khalife remains on trial for other charges, including spying for Iran.

He was arrested three days after fleeing Wandsworth jail in South West London, sparking a huge manhunt.

He broke out of the jail on September 6, 2023, by clinging to the underside of a food delivery truck.

Khalife's sling was made of kitchen trousers and rock climbing clips.

He fled in the hope he would be kept in a highsecurity unit at a different jail, away from sex offenders and terrorists after his recapture, his trial heard.
