A "WALTER Mitty" police boss who pretended to be a veteran of the Falklands War was sacked yesterday.
Nick Adderley, Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police, lied about his rank and length of service in the Royal Navy.
A three-person panel found him guilty of gross misconduct following a five-day hearing.
He had been suspended on full pay of £176,500 since October.
Following a misconduct hearing, a panel said: "[His] sustained brazen dishonesty and sustained lack of integrity will cause lasting harm to the police service."
