A SICK great-grandad resorted to sleeping on a hospital floor during a 12-hour wait for a trolley.
Martin Wakely, 75, was rushed to hospital by ambulance after he started struggling to breathe.
The ex-gun dog trainer, who has multiple sclerosis, cried in pain as he had to sit and could not lie flat in the A&E department.
When he was finally diagnosed with pneumonia, Martin discharged himself after 51 hours when the bed he was given was in a corridor. Wife Tracy, 63, a former property inspector, from Bobbing, Kent, said: "I knew the NHS was in a state but until you're there you don't realise how bad it is. It was like you imagine care in the Third World".
