TV chef Gregg Wallace has blasted critics who wrongly suggested he doesn't spend enough time with his son.
A magazine article on the star's Saturday regime sparked a backlash on social media site X.
It quoted him as having set aside time to play with his autistic son, Sid, four, as well as playing video games by himself.
But he insisted it gave the wrong impression and that Sid lives in a house "filled with love".
Gregg, 59, said: "I was deeply hurt. Some people were calling me a monster. You give a whole interview and the blocks of time are taken out. That's not all of your time. I was up at 5am, because Sid was up at five." He has also been attacked for saying he wouldn't have chosen" to have another child at his age.
Gregg already had two children when he met his wife, Anna, who is 22 years his junior. The BBC MasterChef host added: "I said: 'I wouldn't have chosen to have a child. However, I'm more than happy. Let's have a child.
"To wilfully misrepresent that is spiteful." Gregg is giving away roses in London as part of a Valentine's Day promotion with Smarty Mobile. He will be at Southbank tomorrow from 12-3pm.
