THE National Trust is to create more than 600,000 acres of nature-rich landscapes to help save the planet.
The ten-year scheme the biggest ever announced by the organisation will cover a total area one-and-a-half times the size of Greater London.
It aims to restore vital peatland, which stores more carbon than the forests of Britain, France and Germany combined.
Teams will also work to cut the flood risk to thousands of homes and businesses.
