CAPTAIN GUINNESS was stout when it mattered most to give jockey Rachael Blackmore a full set of the 'Holy Trinity' in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.
The betting for the Wednesday feature was dominated by El Fabiolo as Willie Mullins' unbeaten chaser shortened to 2-9 after Nicky Henderson withdrew Jonbon from the two-mile test.
But El Fabiolo's habit of taking liberties at his obstacles cost him dear a shuddering blunder at the fifth fence heading away from the stands brought the hotpot to a standstill, giving Paul Townend no option but to pull his mount up.
Tom Cannon on Edwardstone sought to burn his rivals off from the front, but Blackmore and Captain Guinness kicked on rounding home turn, jumping the penultimate fence where the longtime leader took a tired fall - with a three-length cushion.
