And she added: "I kissed my four kids goodbye on their way to school and one never came home." Micala Trussler told a court her life had been torn apart when Logan MacPhail, then just 16, murdered her daughter, Holly Newton, 15.
MacPhail, who stabbed Holly 36 times, will learn his fate today after a two-day sentencing hearing.
Dressed all in black and armed with a knife, he was seen on CCTV as he followed her from school before murdering her in an alleyway.
Ms Trussler recalled watching in horror as her daughter was loaded into the back of an ambulance.
But she could not hold her in hospital as her body was treated as evidence when she died shortly after the attack on January 27 last year.
She told Newcastle crown court yesterday: "How can any parent begin to comprehend receiving a phone call telling them that their daughter had been stabbed? "Those words still play on repeat through my head.
