AFTER winning the RBS Canadian Open a year ago, Rory Mcllroy eclipsed Greg Norman by winning his 21st PGA Tour title on the weekend of the first LIV Golf event.
"I had the extra motivation of what's going on across the pond," he said.
Twelve months on and, despite Tuesday's shock peace deal, the Northern Irishman showed the rancour still ran deep by stating "I still hate LIV" and called for "consequences" for the rebels who left and sued the PGA Tour.
A tumultuous 24 hours in the sport saw PGA Tour chief Jay Monahan admit "people are going to call me a hypocrite" for taking Saudi money and Mcllroy told to "**** off" during a heated players' meeting in Toronto before this year's Canadian Open.
And in his pre-tournament press conference, Mcllroy revealed he was only told of the merger by phone on Tuesday morning.
