A GIANT barge which will house 500 migrants was met with fierce protests as it docked yesterday.
The Bibby Stockholm was pulled into harbour just after 8am, hours after MPs backed the Government's controversial Illegal Migration Bill.
The 1970s-built, 305ft vessel has 222 cabins and will house only single adult men, who will begin arriving in the next fortnight.
Human rights protesters showed their disgust as the refurbished barge arrived.
They clashed with residents who fear an influx of people in Portland, Dorset.
The Rev Nick Clarke, rural dean of Weymouth and Portland, told the BBC: "It just looks like an incarceration. The refugees are in need."
