ISRAEL sparked condemnation from the United Nations yesterday after killing five militants in raids on the West Bank.
The fatalities mean 16 have died in the first two days of its military operation in the occupied territory.
Israel said the simultaneous raids were aimed at preventing attacks.
But UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres called for an immediate halt. And he demanded Israel complies with international law and take steps to protect civilians.
